Bluegrass in the Park

Bluegrass in the Park

Starting May 15th, every Friday night, there is a free concert in the Clovis Veteran’s Memorial Park, behind the Memorial Building and Senior Center at 5th and Hughes east of Old Town Clovis. Music from great local bands who volunteer their time and talent to the bluegrass fans, come out and support the musicians with your enthusiasm, applause and generous tips. There’s no pay involved for them, they do it for the love of the music, so let’s make sure they know they’re appreciated! Here is the current schedule.

May 15, 2009 Grasskickers from Fresno
May 22, 2009 Morgan Canyon Band from Fresno – Memorial Day Weekend
May 29, 2009 Grass Less Traveled from Visalia
June 5, 2009 Bluegrass Conspiracy from Turlock
June 12, 2009 The Dalton Mountain Gang from Fresno
June 19, 2009 Father’s Day Festival in Grass Valley – No concert

More dates will be announced soon.

These concerts are a great way to get to know local bluegrass bands, and to appreciate a truly “traditional” American music.  Reviews of concerts, along with artist profiles, will come as the summer progresses.
